I apprenticed in 1976 with Stefan Martin of Rooselvelt, NJ to learn the meticulous art of wood engraving. A relief form of printimaking, the image is cut into the surface of a highly polished endgrain wood (or nowadays resin) block and then inked and printed on Japanese rice paper for the limited edition original prints.
Wood engravings differ from wood cuts as they are cut on an engrain block where a wood cut is cut on a plank of wood and the tools are burins and not gouges. There are only a handful of artists in the country who practice this rare form of printmaking.
Please contact me if you are interested in owning one or more of my prints. Some of the editions are sold out and some have only a few prints left as I have been at this for almost 30 years.
